I took ritalin for a few years as an adult. During those years I got many things accomplished. When taken in the correct dose it is truly amazing. As my doctor said, when it's obvious to you that you've taken it.... you've probably had too much. I was on too much in the beginning and it caused me some probs.

I wouldn't recommend it on a daily basis however. Your body gets used to it and you have to start upping the dosage. The best way to take it is only when you think you will absolutely need it.

My daughter was diagnosed with ADHD when she was 13. She complained that she didn't like the way her medicine made her feel, so I tried it once. The clarity of thought and purpose I experienced made me wish I had ADHD too... maybe I do? Like shuallyo, I got a lot done, and feel it helped me function.

If it weren't for the drawbacks, I wouldn't mind taking it.

EDIT: She didn't take ADHD meds very long at all. She is almost 20, still has ADHD, and is looking at possibly attending college next semester, so is reconsidering the possibility of meds if needed.

I just worry about my ultimate fear coming true: that so many people will use the drugs legally or illegally that people on these drugs will be the rule, not the exception. But that will probably never happen if these drugs are used responsibly.

My approach to any (Medical) drug is: Use only when truelly needed. I'm not to say that all drugs are bad, but people tend to grab for the pill at any minor ailment, that might go over in a few hours or days.
