MERRELL GATHERER COAT: Stuff your jacket to keep warm
MERRELL GATHERER COAT: Stuff your jacket to keep warm
The translucent jacket comes as a shell with no insulation, but is equipped with a number of zippers throughout its body where the wearer stuff the jacket with whatever insulation material is on hand. Shredded paper, pine needles, fallen leaves or yesterday’s newspaper. picked by AutumnLotus 12 months ago

Great gift for a homeless person, except it retails for $100. WUT? The less materials, the more it costs?

Seems like quite a bit of work just for a coat, that may or may not work quite as well depending on the materials you have at hand. I prefer mine pre-insulated, thanks.

I could see this in an emergency kit you keep on hand for camping. It would fold up small enough to keep in a small first aid kit, and would be great in case something happened. I could easily see this folded up next to my emergency blanket in my car emergency kit. I can't really see paying 100$ for it though, thats a lil bit insane. I only paid 28$ for my kids down filled warmest jackets from the Gap, and no extra filling needed. If I had a vacuum sucky thing, I could probably suck the air of them and make them shrink small enough to fit in the emergency car kit.

I'd use it in the summer, fill all the pockets with crushed ice.

I love the idea of just stuffing it with more clothes! If you stuff it with some thin thermals, you can go camping and stay warm, and always have clean socks!

Then again, I'd want a couple of those pockets to not be transparent, so that I'm not advertising to the world what my underoos look like, if I'm packing for a long weekend.

I'd make compost in it.

Wouldn't that smell nice.
