Kind of amazing it took so long.

Polaroid rode the novelty of "instant" photos far beyond the time one might imagine.

The prints were made using cheap lenses, caustic chemicals and usually gave modest image quality at best.
The cameras produced a relatively expensive single image that could only be reproduced by re-photographing the picture itself with diminishing quality as a result.

I, like many others, liked and used the instant image feature without any regard for the lack of archival potential. If anyone, like myself, actually used Elmers glue to paste them in an album they will have joined me in discovering the glue eventually leaches through the backing and destroys portions of the image.

Thank goodness for PhotoShop.
