 Michael Vick's Dogs
Michael Vick's Dogs
The 10 dogs that Michael Vick owned prior to his arrest for being subhuman scum* were not, as one might fear, destroyed or kept for the rest of their days in a soulless canine institution but given away, for free, to people made of care and not hate.

This is a gallery of photos of the dogs in their new homes.

Backs up the adage that there are no bad dogs, only bad owners.

All super-adorable! That jerk should be paying dog support to all of those new owners, too.

It warms my heart that they gave these dogs a chance.

Let this set the trend for seized pit bulls to have hope for rehoming, rather than euthanasia.

Pits are a very loving, snuggly breed. I just love them.

The woman with Sweet Jasmine is who we dealt with rescuing our Rottie.

It's great to see these Dogs that otherwise would have been given a death sentence, living the life they deserve.

Vick was ordered to pay $1M in rehab costs for these Dogs. As he should have been.

National Geographic Channel has a show called "Dog Town".

They did a episode on some of Michael Vick's dogs that came to stay at their facilities. It was very heartbreaking as these dogs were really messed up mentally and some, physically.

One Pit in particular, Cherry, would not even move unless very low to the ground, and when they did get it to move, it was close up against fences. They figured he was used solely to fight, and lose, against the better dogs, during training.

Anyway, not sure the link will go straight to their updates, but here's more information about that particular episode, with pics and info on the dogs they received.

I watch Dog Town every week.

I believe they said Cherry was used as a "Bait" dog. :(

The episode on the Vick dogs was bittersweet. Sad to see their emotional and physical scars which were caused by humans, but wonderful to see them coming around and being helped. The one female, the one that Vick had all her teeth pulled, was on "Ellen" with the trainer about 2 weeks ago.

I fostered a Pit Bull from Denver who was used as a bait dog. She was the sweetest thing, too, totally loving, and it was heartbreaking to hear about what they did to her. How that dog came out so solid that I told her adopter she should be a therapy dog is beyond me, but she did. She was sort of goofy and a little stupid, but the most loving dog I've ever met.

Considering that everyone in that picture looks happy and healthy, I guess I don't get the joke...

How appropriate you would post that kind of bulls**t on an article about a breed of dog that is consistently misjudged for its appearance.
The only thing any of us know about that picture is that the family in it chose to adopt an abused dog. That's good role modeling, in my book.

I don't understand your comment. Do you know him personally? You are judging on looks alone, I gather.

If they were approved to adopt a Vick dog, then they are a very respectable family. As someone who volunteers in rescue, when you are dealing with dogs such as these, they would only go to the cream of the crop adoption applicants. They were also put through every imagineable background investigation.

I don't get it either, is it the backwards hat and the long hair? Is he holding the baby wrong or something?

Following up on Uzercharlie's post;

Alright. While Eastcoast1978's comment was certainly uncalled for, I think -500+ points is more than sufficient punishment.

Unless the community would also like to take him outside to draw and quarter him, can we move on with the topic at hand?

We need to guide our young Plimates, and encourage them to become better members. Not jump on the mob bandwagon and try to destroy or run off potential members. Please?

I don't feel like we really need to pamper anyone, least of all someone who makes what could easily be considered, or mistaken for a racist comment. Even if it wasn't racist it was still wildly inappropriate, albeit fitting to the theme of false perceptions.

If it wasn't a racist comment, I would think that he would have explained the reasoning behind the comment. Instead he "lol" at Marli. And then dv'd Marli and me because we said we didn't understand his joke/comment.
