I think I know what other people would think of this, but I think it's sweet. People think I am crazy because I got my cat cremated, but we were best friends for almost 18 years.

I don't think you're crazy at all. We gave all of our family pets a proper goodbye.

Our 165 lb. 14 year old Alaskan Malamute was buried in the wooded area of my brother's backyard.

My sister brought our 110 lb, 14 year old Dobie/Weimaraner by herself to the Hartsdale Pet Cemetery for cremation. We buried him in the backyard flower garden at my mom's house.

My mom's 23 year old cat was buried in the front flower garden. When she sold the house 3 years ago, we let the new owners and their children know about the pets.

Smaller pets didn't always get the proper goodbye. When one of my mom's little birds passed, it was unceremoniously placed in the trash. The malamute stood guard over the trash can and moaned until the can was finally moved out of the yard.

Aww thanks :)
Yeah, I think I would have a problem putting an animal in the trash. My mom threw out a bunny that we had and I was really upset that she did it.
It's sad but cool that other animals get upset over things like that.
I have buried a couple of birds that my cat found. One of them was a new born that didn't even have it's eyes open yet. I have to spray her with a squirt gun to make her give it to me.

She hadn't had the bird that long...It was ill and died suddenly. Usually, even with the frogs, lizards, gerbils, hamsters, we always had some kind of little ceremony.

While I fully understand cremation and burial of pets, (my two kitties are buried in the backyard alongside a very special fish) sometimes it goes too far. My friend had her cat cremated and it now sits in a jar next to a portrait of the cat, high on the living room wall. That's just creepy.

My best friend has a hamster and a rat in her freezer right now. She lives in an apartment and does not want to just throw them out. Plus, her fiance was really close to the rat.

Yeah, I totally have my cat in an urn with her collar on it and a clay footprint. Plus a picture frame box with her pictures on it.

To be fair, I think keeping human remains in an urn on a shelf is weird and unnerving, too.

For some reason I think that keeping human remains is weirder. Maybe it's because of the way I feel about people lol
