Invisible Surgery: Appendix Removed Through Patient's Vagina
Invisible Surgery: Appendix Removed Through Patient's Vagina
Breaking new ground in what many surgeons consider the next frontier in minimally invasive surgery, Yale School of Medicine and Yale-New Haven Hospital surgeon Kurt Roberts, M.D., successfully performed an appendectomy with no abdominal incision. The appendix was removed through a small incision in the patient's vagina. picked by suebe 11 months ago

this method of surgery (not just for appendix removal) is becoming more and more popular. It is a great option for the patient as the recovery time is much much quicker

So I'm now expected to birth my own appendix? Do I get to claim it as a dependent?

I liked what another doctor said about this type of surgery:

"It's a closed system, not a bacterial superhighway!"

Seriously, are doctors still doing this type of crap to women? Who would want an infected, 'sick' organ removed through a carefully balanced, vital part of your anatomy? Oh, right - a vain person!

Sigh, not yet a year after my surgery, and 2 of the smaller scars are invisible on my delicate, pale skin. It's not that bad, really!

Like so many things nowadays - just because you CAN does NOT mean you SHOULD!!

really? you'd rather have an incision through the muscle wall of the stomach?

actually... i had my hysterectomy this way (more or less). they removed it vaginally. i was up and around practically the day after the surgery and with very little discomfort. i felt completely normal again in less than a week. in contrast, i remember when my mom had her surgery and how long it took for her to recover. the difference in recovery times is staggering and my pain afterward was nil, in fact i felt much better! vanity had nothing to do with it in my case.
