Study: You Touch It, You Buy It
Study: You Touch It, You Buy It
You've heard of "you break it, you buy it," but what about "you touch it, you buy it?"

A new study suggests that just fingering an item on a store shelf can create an attachment that makes you willing to pay more for it. picked by AutumnLotus 10 months ago

This is not a new notion - not by a long chalk.

This is the reason why stock is kept on view in a browsable form.

Back when I worked in the record shop the concept of digitising music was just arising. In more idle moments we considered the potential impact including the notion that in terms of efficiency a record shop needed a big data store, a CD burner and a list.

We discounted that as you'd not get to form the bond by touching the sleeve or case of the album.

Shame really, because if we'd invented iTunes first we'd probably all be quite well off now...
