55 Beers That Will Knock You Flat On Your Ass
55 Beers That Will Knock You Flat On Your Ass
most American beer is around 5 - 5.5% alcohol. Many Europeans and Canadians laugh at the "piss water" that passes as beer in the US. Here are 50 beers that have at least 10% alcohol. picked by 2manyusernames 10 months ago

I don't judge the beer by the alchohol content.

But I don't drink grocery store beer either (Unless it's Guinness)

I've known about Bock beer since I was a kid. My friend's dad used to forget how many he had left after about 4 or 5.

Wisely so. A bit of a generalisation, but beers of this sort of strength don't tend to taste so good.

I guess it depends on what your grocery store can get. I can get Rogue, Great Lakes, Franziskaner, Paulaner, Hoegarrden, and other imports/craft brews at one of the nearby Giant Eagles.

I was going to say... roague double dead guy ale is about 12%. But you listed it. Sierra Nevada Bigfoot is also about 10%.
But I like Guiness also... or Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout.

But alas.. I have issues that won't let me have wheat...

So it's good ol' bourbon for me. Bulleit to be exact.

Wow beer with lots of alcohol, cool. I'd rather drink liquor than that stuff.

Yeah, our local grocery stores stock up on plenty of good beers. A good selection on micros and a good selection of good high end beer too. Duvel, Chimay, good selection of lambics. Rouge was not available for a long time in St. Louis, the moment they started distributing it here the stores picked it up. They picked it up before many of the bars and pubs started carrying them

Best Reinheitsgebot: Ayinger Celebrator (Germany, Doppelbock...only 7%ish...but the best)

Best otherwise: Stone Brewing's Imperial Stout...hands down.

after either of those, Guinness ain't even dark.

Put your hands back up, my friend.

Dogfish Head makes the best stout I've had.

i might be able to find that here...the Stone Brewing Co. only ships a few things this way, and the IS is not one of them anymore...and you can't ship them personally into TN...i may go to SanDiego just to buy a case.

tell me, the Chicory Stout...does it have a darker-than-mocha head on it?

the Imperial Stout is also 10+% ABV, which is a big part of its flavor...it doesn't have the "sour" mentioned in the first review of the dogfish, though it takes two solid quaffs to adjust the palate....but after that...

if you haven't tried it, poop, you owe it to yourself...if you have, then i must find some dogifsh pdq.

I'd say the head is "the head the color of tanned leather". (follow the link, my review is on there)

I can get Stone here, love their Arrogant b*****d the most. Their Imperial Stout... I haven't had it in years and don't really remember everything about it.

i've been drinking wine instead of beer lately (idaho is just one of those places that, due to its sheer s**ttiness, makes you want to drink a lot). wine is cheap, has a high alcohol content, AND is good for you. ;)

apparently, you can't even get the sam adams triple bock in half the united states. BOO HISS!
