It's not unusual for insurance carriers to pull out of unprofitable markets. I saw it happen several times when I worked for one large medical carrier. For home insurance it's not that big an issue, I would think. But for medical...that was big.

It's all about the bottom line for the carriers.

I happily pay my premiums on my family's medical insurance. With 2 childbirths, a case of meningitis, a broken leg, and all the numerous things that can happen to kids (from chicken pox to broken arm), I have gotten a great return for my investment.
