What about those of us who believe in God but don't worry about it? Can we enjoy life too? :P

Certainly - in which case, the ad isn't aimed at you in the first place.

"And Jesus said unto them, "And whom do you say that I am?" They replied, "You are the eschatological manifestation of the ground of our being, the ontological foundation of the context of our very selfhood revealed."

And Jesus replied, "What?"

no big message here, I just think its funny. :)

I'm poking fun at the assumption that people who believe in God not only worry about it but also can't enjoy their life. There might be a sadly large number of people who indeed worry about it but to presume that they're all also miserable in life is a little silly.

I got that.

My reply was meant in jest too. I was going with an overinflated outrage thing.

I get the "jest" of things , but you do hit an interesting point.

I have some kin who could be considered "deep water" Baptists. They do worry a lot, basically about going to hell. It borders on obsession.

It seems many (most?) people do not exhibit such "bedeviled" angst. The ones that do, they may not be miserable, but I have perceived undue amounts of worry in their thoughts and actions.

I think some people are just worriers. If they weren't worrying about their eternal soul then they'd be worrying about their job, relationships etc.

Maybe the sign should read, go worry about something else. Or from the athiest perspective, go worry about something more important >_<

Love this comment:
"a view which rejects God in their life and therefore you can do whatever you want"

WRONG!!!! Rejecting a belief in God does not reject morality.

I do what I do it because it is right, not because I fear punishment after I'm dead.

It's like saying just because there are no cops on the road I'm going to drive on the wrong side.

I resepect the lines without the enforcement...that jack-hole apparently does not.

I'm interested to see the math that they're basing this 'probability' on.

Exactly! I don't need the threat of eternal damnation to do the right thing in a given situation.

I'd like to see the empirical evidence that indicates there probably is a supernatural being who cares what I do every second of the day.

Besides, I wonder if the use of the word "probably" actually infers a calculated probability. I'd say the "low probability" is derived from logic and (see above) a lack of positive evidence.

Of course, my comment was mostly rhetorical and intended to be funny. I really didn't intend to start up the whole "Existence of God" debate all over again. God knows we've already done that often enough already.

Kind of like saying 4 is a canned answer to the question what is 2+2

Apologies for missing the joke.

I call Poe's law as my only defense.

My only problem with these signs is the complete lack of sincerity they convey. Instead of putting forth something inviting and persuasive (e.g. "Look to science for answers") they go on the offensive and imply that god-believers are a worrisome bunch who don't enjoy life.

Despite any views on the validity of the sign creators' claims, it's hard to see their efforts as anything other than an attempt to rile people up. It seems like less of a sincere effort to help people and more of a way to "stick it to" the Christians whose signs you normally see on buses. It's terrible way to evangelize your point-of-view, and a great way to drive a wedge into society.
