Congress votes themselves $93,000 petty cash bonus [video]
We need to cut back on our expenses such as food. The government gives flak to auto execs for flying in private jets. How is congress doing their part? By taking $93,000 that they say they have to have. They figure when they spend the $93k on personal luxuries that will stimulate the economy. AHHHHGGG! picked by 2manyusernames 1 year ago

I made less than that in 2008, and they call it "petty cash". Sheesh.

What did the American people expect?
We vote these people in year after year, and we've gotten what we deserve.
Changing one person is not going to fix the government. The whole system is corrupt, and the whole system needs to be cleaned up before we'll see any good change.

Please explain how this can be done.

Perhaps Daschle can use his to pay some of his back taxes.

How can these people say ninetey-three thousand dollars and petty in the same sentence with a straight face?

As Sofsr said, they keep getting re-elected so they probably think we're all alright with their behavior or that at least the majority doesn't care.

Every so often they'll come up with a sacrificial lamb (not that they didn't deserve what they got/get (e.g. Blagojevich, Foley, Jim Black [local scum-bag], Clarence Norman, ad nauseam).

These are at least a few weeks or a couple of months worth of distraction each.

Was this most altruistic act voted on today? If so then it is "even less simple than we first imagined", to kind of borrow a phrase.

Slip it through on the slow news weekend. Not many will notice, its the day before a major sporting event, "no one is gonna notice".

My only decision now is whether to send my representatives a chocolate sphincter or a fine Jesus approved dildo. But then again, that would eat up all my petty cash.

Send him the dildo - they already have enough sphincters there.

People need to stop re-electing the bloody b*****ds. All of them. People need not only to think past their bulls**t promises, but also to look up their histories, and actually figure out who's going to pull this bulls**t and who won't.
Unfortunately, it seems a large majority of us Americans like to go through this crap, because they just choose the same people from the same two corrupt parties over and over again. I actually heard someone say that they believed that Blagojevich was not only a great govenor, but that his policies justified him commiting crimes. She didn't even argue against him doing so.

Of course, there's a revolution for an alternative, but that wouldn't go well unless you could get the military to back you or a well trained and well armed militia and a very good leader.

I couldn't agree more. Politicians' actions (as well as 'lack of') should speak louder than words..unfortunately, too many people don't seem to take the time to look into their histories, past the (biased) media reports and what they are spoon fed.

...welcome to the two party system - no matter who wins the elections, everyone loses!

Until there is more (viable) choice in who holds public office, this will continue to happen. We're all picking the lesser of two evils (with the end result still being "evil").
