I wouldn't be overly shocked, except for the bit about the "assualt causing bodily harm" to this man's wife... that's downright scary, and wrong.
I doubt this girl realizes what she might be getting herself into.

A pair of losers that were meant for each other. So, she can't find someone her own age who is NOT a violent sex offender? She must have some terrible problems that make her unattractive to normal 16 year old kids.

Speaking as someone with experience in this area (my now 13 year old stepdaughter was molested at 9 by her uncle), some children that are molested become attracted to the type of men that molest them. At age 11, we caught her flirting with guys from anywhere between 7 and 23 years her senior. She had no interest in boys her age. She pretty much lost her innocence at age 9, but she was still a child and makes childlike decisions. Counseling is the only thing I know of to help children like this, and even then it may take years. For all we know, this girl may have been molested at a younger age by someone else, and thus it was easier for this guy to take advantage of her at 14. Calling her a loser is a bit harsh though. Not many 16 year olds make the best decision the majority of the time.

I agree. A childhood hero of mine turned ou to be a molester. It was really crushing. Molestation has some terrible psychological effects. Not being molested had me wondering why. Was I not good enough? Was I too ugly? Not that I wanted it, but I couldn't stop questioning why it didn't happen to me. I realise now how terrible those thoughts were, but that's just an example of how this type of thing can f**k with you.

Children who are ACTUALLY molested are affected far more severely. This is a very "adult" thing that is happens to a child. Not only do children not fully understand what the hell is happening, they can start to think that this type of thing is supposed to happen. They can start to believe that it is right.

It's a terrible thing that unfortunately happens, the effects can last a lifetime. My mother was molested as a child. Thankfully she was able to overcome this, but it took a lot, and I can't imagine that it doesn't still bother her. I don't dare discuss it with her.

Not only does it have an effect on the child, but everyone around them. The parents wonder if there was something they could have done better or differently (maybe so), and many of them are unable to ever forgive themselves. Some parents who experience this try to just ignore it and hope it goes away (which really won't happen and makes matters much worse). There are tons of complicated emotions revolving around an incident like molestation, and the negative psychological effects claim multiple victims and have longevity.

Don't get me wrong, mocking crazy people is fun, but not those who can justify their insanity. Those are the ones to pity. I feel bad for this girl and sincerely hope that someone can get through to her and make her understand how wrong this man was for what he did.

You're right. I just reacted to the actions of the girl as if she were sane and making a poor desision. She is probably not able to make any rational descisions, as you said. I stand corrected and more aware...
