"The beauty of this study is that we are showing that a substance of abuse, if used prudently, may offer a new road to therapy against lung cancer,"
Key point. Marijuana is abused by a lot of users. Also, this won't work if you smoke it, that's more likely to give you lung disease as it to 'cure' it.

When I was a stoner I'd have read this and gone, "See how great weed is", then lit up a another. Now, my views are different. It's no longer the greatest thing since sliced bread to me.

LOL. Seriously though, testicular cancer? Might be worth me getting checked. >_<

The problem is that modern strains of weed are almost unidentifiable to the weed that was been smoked even 40yrs ago. A lot more potent. Also, modern weed has been grown to contain more and more THC and that leaves no room for CBD which is a natural anti-psychotic that occurs in unadulterated weed. Hence increased cases of paranoia ect.

Well this really depends on how you are smoking it. Joints are bad, but if you are using a bong the opposite is true (the smoke is cooled by the water, drastically reducing the damage to your lungs). I bought a volcano a while ago and it was the best purchase ever, absolutely no lung damage and gets me stoned as hell.

Also, the whole "weed is more potent now" argument is really quite pathetic, more potent weed means you don't have to smoke as much which sounds like a good thing to me (in terms of lung damage).

Erm, it wasn't an argument is was an observation. Pathetic? Well, ok.

I used to smoke a lot of homegrown, strong homegrown, and I used to smoke s**t loads. The more you smoke the more resistance you build, in my experience, and the more you smoke.

Funny as hell that I'm getting downvotes on polite comments about weed though. Some passionate stoners out there.

Here's an article I found interesting. They say that yes, marijuana contains something like 4 times the amount of toxic chemicals that cigarettes do so they believed that it would cause cancer to develop much faster than if you had smoked cigarettes. However, mary j also contains THC which is believed to kill off aging lung cells that may develop cancer. So..I think that was an important thing to note. Yes its the same but again its not. There are different chemicals at play.

i will correct this statement for you: "The more I smoked, the more comfortable I became with the experience; so the more I smoked."

perhaps that applies only to me; but at least i'm not telling you to do the same in second person.

Thanks for rephrasing my words. I'm pretty sure I know what I meant though. When I smoked heavily after 13 years of use, it took a lot more to get me high. I was a wake and bake guy. I smoked from waking until sleep and whenever I woke in the night.

but at least i'm not telling you to do the same in second person.

I have to agree with Doggy.. the more you smoke the higher you tolerance, just like anyother drug out there. That is why I take days or even weeks from smoking. It also helps out my lungs.

i love it, plain and simple.

yes, i believe it helps with the creative process of songwriting. that doesn't mean you don't have to edit and revise.

but i have never bought the "tolerance" idea...

i have in fact learned that i can smoke less, be high not quite as long, which has its benefits...

i have never experienced the "i must smoke more to get high" thing...and i still have lots of dreams, vivid vivid dreams.

perhaps i am the stoner king?!?!?!

Stoner King, Stoner King, la la la la la.
