Way to go them. Maybe they're from the same family as Bush. But even people they didn't figure out about the key thing, people would find a way to rig the election anyway.
Just how prevalent are these machines? And who certified them???
And another thought. Politicians should stay out of technical decisions. I'm sure that the decision to certify Diebold was made on the basis of cost and kickback. The company was obviously not checked out by a knowledgeable technical person. The department of Homeland Security is a bunch of gun-happy, security-ignorant morons who couldn't keep their own houses secure much less a whole country.
There was such an uproar here during the last election because the voting system used in many places was one where you punched-out a small box next to your choice with a small stylus. In Florida, which was the deciding state (for the Presidential race), there were calls for several recounts by both sides. One of the main problems, which was clearly a shortcoming of that voting system, was that sometimes the punched-out hole was not punched completely. Since the voter was allowed to "not vote" for an office, it was hard to determine if the ballot had a valid vote or if the voter chose not to punch a section. This is where the term "hanging chad" came from, if you've heard that. See Pic:
