Three year old girl raised by her dogs
Three year old girl raised by her dogs
A three year old girl was found by social workers in Russia, being cared for in her family home by her pet dogs. The girl’s mother, an alcoholic, had neglected the girl, leaving her to fend for herself. Luckily her dogs adopted her into their ‘pack’. picked by AutumnLotus 9 months ago

I wonder how much of the learnt dog behaviour can be shaken off.

Given that she's so young I'd imagine almost all, but then the first three years are very formative.

She may well learn what is correct behaviour but I'd wager that to some degree it is almost always against the grain for her.

She also used the dogs for warmth, and barely knows how to speak, answering just yes and know to questions.

I'm sure the dogs did a masterful job compared to her mother's hideous neglect. She may retain "dogged" behaviors but she will be infinitely better off than she would have been without those dogs. They at least taught her something about being loved, cared for and protected.

I wonder if the mother could be cared for by- Oh, say- A pack of Lions? Preferably large, hungry irritable ones.

Ahhhh. I think I just now snapped. So many of these tragic stories of abuse and neglect -

because I looked at that and I "HA!"ed outloud.

----

and I do hope in some weird way the dogs imparted a bit of instict and even when she is reimmersed into people culture, she'll still be able to sniff out the bad guys. it could serve her well.

She is only three so she should be fine. Many other feral children older than her have adjusted to society after some love and care.

Well at least someone got a laugh, because I was struggling for the life of me to come up with a good one. I feel the result was subpar.

If you can look at tragedy with a light heart then you're halfway to comedy.

What I'd love to know, is how much of the growling she understands, is it its own language and she can actually communicate with the dogs?

I guess we'll never know because she'll now get to be properly looked after and 'educated' into society.. I imagine life is much simpler with the dogs though!
