Thank goodness. At least now there is a state, that if I'm living a painful life, I know I can go to Washington.

It's BS that we don't have the right to kill ourselves. I mean, shoot, its MY LIFE ... I'll do whatever I want to do with it.

(of course, seeing as I never want to die, or grow old for that matter, I can't see myself wanting to terminate my own life just yet. I'm just waiting for your friendly neighborhood vampire to make me forever happy!!)

Technically, you do have the right to kill yourself without legal repercussions. It's just illegal for your doctor or anyone else to assist you. This law has nothing to do with whether it is legal to kill yourself. It's all about the legality of assisting people in killing themselves. Even if suicide were illegal, as long as you do it on your own, it's not like they can take anyone to court for it.

Actually iamtoni7, you have two places you can go. Before you go, make sure you can prove residency and that you have a doctor's opinion which puts you at less than 6 months to live.

Chronic pain but living, need not apply.

It's your life, but you still have to go through red tape, multiple confessions of 'suicidal thoughts' in auditory and written form, and then FIND a Doctor who will do it. Not all will.

It's a step in the right direction, but Oregon's law has only assisted in just over 300 people. How many hundreds were turned away, it doesn't say.

The problem lies with those people who are bedfast, or have conditions that they cannot summon the dexterity necessary to perform the task.
