I'm half expecting her to sue the company because it wasn't an iPhone.

Edit:

an employee told her the store would pull all chips with the same brand and expiration date as hers.

WTF? Are they hoping to find more cell phones?

Why does it require an investigation to figure out who the phone belongs to? TURN IT ON! Call the first person's name you find in the cell phone and say, "Hi, I found this phone and need the name of the person it belongs to."
