In this thread Mandolinorange and Imnoyoo started the discussion.

ME:
In Eighth grade I got detention for getting beaten up.
I was being picked on my three other guys at recess. I finally had enough and hit one of them just as the teacher decided to turn around and look. We were all given detention where we were to write the dictionary.
Ironically, I became friends with my tormentors because they thought I was being treated unfairly.

I lit and threw a smoke bomb in the band's school bus on the way home from an out of town football game.

Needless to say, the adults were not amused.

When I was in HS, I got grounded for killing a fish.

My buddy and I each bought a beta fish, put them in a bowl and bet on who's would win. I won. Then I lost when my parents got home.

(wrong, I know...but that was in HS)

When I was in kindergarten or first grade, I was sent to the "Thinking Chair" because I put my hands in the middle of our circle during circle time.
My mom also punished me once for not blowing my nose once, I think.

My dad found my 3yr old sister's hair cut one day and asked who did it. She said, "Thommy did it." (<-- that's me when I was lil).

He proceeded to beat me with a PVC pipe, even though I said I hadn't taken part in it. He asked her again, and she said, "Nicky did it." (<-- That's my brother when he was young.)

He proceeded to beat both of us with said pipe. About 10min later my mother told him that she had said that "Daddy did it." so they knew she was lying.

We got told that "if WE didn't lie so much, our baby sister wouldn't have learned how to do it."

I've always thought that was pretty stupid...

We had some new 'modern' teacher come to our school to teach language arts and art. Now I have to mention this is the rural prairies, so her ideas usually weren't met with... enthusiasm from us pupils.

One day, she announced that we should all bring a rock into class the next day so that we could paint it in art class. She held up a little fist-sized rock that was painted like a turtle or something as a demonstration and said that a bigger rock than that would be a good idea. She also encouraged us to grab a partner and work on it as a team, as that would help us build our 'dynamic teamworking skills'.

My cousin Jakey and I (we were in the same class) thought it would be a grand idea to bring in the biggest rock we could find. That evening, we went out the rock-pile at the edge of the hayfield and picked out a gigantic granite boulder. We heaved it the back of the farm truck and went home grinning.

The next day, Ms. Clarence asked us to bring out our rocks to paint. Jakey (I still call him Jakey; now that we're all grown up he likes to be called Jake) says ours is outside still and he has to go get it to bring it in. A minute later, he comes in again saying we need to take our paints outside because it's kind of heavy and we can't bring it in. I went outside with Jakey, and the teacher followed.

Ms. Clarence freaked out. "I asked you to bring in a rock!!!"

"This is a rock! It's granite. From the Shield, too!"
Jakey piped up "you said bring in one bigger than the one you had. You never said how much bigger!!"

She wasn't impressed with us at all. She hauled us down to the principal's office and gave us both detention. The principal was trying so hard not to laugh as she cited the reasons we deserved this detention. She was so mad she could hardly talk; we were laughing and laughing and that made her madder and madder.

I don't think I deserved detention that day, but to see the look on her face when she saw the boulder was totally worth it.

I got in trouble in the first grade when I was talking football with the boys. I was saying how I loved the mascot "The Funky Chicken". Well this other boy who used to hate me told the teacher I said the "F" word. I cried and told her I said funky and not the bad word but she punished me anyway. For a whole hour I had to lay my head down on the desk, nose down and touching.

I thought the punishment was so unfair and could not stop crying. I can even admit now that when this same teacher got into a car accident and had to leave for the rest of the year, I was secretly happy. God will forgive me, I was only six.

I waitressed at the IHOP in Ft Collins for a while, graveyard shift. One night, this poor little gal came in, by herself, really upset about something. I've no clue what she was sad about, but I thought I'd buy her cup of hot chocolate as a treat. Didn't want to make a big deal about it, so just didn't put it on the ticket, planned to add it to my meal at my break.

She pointed out that it was missing to the cashier. Cashier tells the manager, manager pulls me aside, doesn't believe me that I was going to pay for it. Tells me she has to write me up for it, even though I had the money ready to pay for it.

Wouldn't have cared, but then she said 'If we were more than just friends, I'd overlook it.' I quit the next day. If the manager had been a male (or if I were male) there would have been no question that it was sexual harrassment, but girl on girl? No one thought it was a big deal.

Not resetting the lab's precision scale after using it. There were someone using it every minute. After resetting it, it had to be initialized again which was a pain. On the other hand if you did not reset it the next student could read your measurements. So I just did not reset it on a regular basis. The chairman of the department of chemistry walked in to measure something right after I left the equipment.

Okay, next time you tell this story you have to drop the "I quit the next day" line. A better way to end this story would have been to include some hot girl-on-girl scene. The more details the better.

Duly noted. However....EEEEWWWW! Totally not my type. I'd have rather gone home with the chippie who came in every Saturday after hitting the bars, totally drunk. She'd wrap her arms around my hips and tell everyone at the table that I was her newest pet.

Junior year of HS. My English teacher was a grade A b***h. One day I brought a thermos of water to class because I had a sore throat. She asked me if I had a Dr.'s excuse to have "refreshments" in class. As she's asking me this, the jackass behind me is stage-whispering to the person next to him, so I can't hear the teacher clearly. I say to her, "Excuse me?" and she flies off the handle. Starts ranting about "How dare you speak to me that way," and "You need to watch your attitude," and sundry other bulls**ts. I wasn't allowed to defend myself and was sent straight to the Principal's office. He heard me out and said that despite the fact that I was probably in the right, he had to give me detention.
Long story short(er), she gave me an opportunity to redeem myself and avoid detention if I would apologise in front of the class. Instead, I used that opportunity to belittle her and call her out on her incessant b***hery in front of the entire class.
I had EXTRA detention for a whole week and went happily to each one. :) I hated that c**t.

In third grade at a catholic school I flipped off a nun.

She had it coming, the b***h.

No detention, no suspension. Had to apologize and say some hail mary's. My parents on the other hand grounded me for almost a month.

My story involves a nun too!

It wasn't really a punishment (at least I haven't been punished for it yet), but the nun told me that if I didn't pick up my toys in the playroom I'd go to hell. That was about the time I decided Catholicism wasn't for me. I was six.

Other than that, I pretty much deserved every whooping that came my way.

I practically lived in that IHOP my junior and senior year of college.

I made mention of a couple of things in the other thread, but this has come to mind now.

It was on my 10th birthday. I had my best friend round for tea, and my sister had hers. My mum was in the kitchen, doing something to do with pans (I was 10 and had just been 9 for a year - cooking was not a big concern) and my dad was sat at the table with us.

I can't remember what my dad was doing, but it was very, very funny. And we were all laughing.

For reasons that still have not been made clear my mum came out of the kitchen and hit the roof - she was mad. But I just couldn't stop laughing, and that made her madder, and madder and madder.

Eventually she got so mad that she sent me to my room.

ON MY BIRTHDAY!

And no-one else at the table attempted to defend me.
