Well I got stopped at a road block 2 days ago and I'd misplaced my license. The Office gives me a warning ticket and tells me that I have 3 days to get a replacement. Okay, no problem I can do that.

Here is where everything goes wrong.

I moved to NC from Florida 4 years I ago. When I first went to get my NC license I had to pay a ticket that I had gotten in Florida the year before. I did and I got my license. Great right, whats wrong with that.

Well yesterday I tried to get my license replace and they tell me that I can't because Florida has a flag on my license. I call the Florida DMV to find out what is going on and they tell me that I have an unpaid ticket from Dillsboro. I call Dillsboro to see what is going on because I paid that ticket 4 years ago. They confirm that. But, they also tell me that I have to send them a $6.00 check in order to get a copy of the paid ticket and then I have to send it to the Florida DMV. By the time I get all this done I will have to pay $180 dollars here in NC for driving without a license, because someone at the DMV in Florida lost the proof that I paid the ticket.

I just want to know that I'm not overreacting or if anybody as had a similar experience.

That sucks bigstyle, I can't help because i dunno how the DMV works but that is really s****y It always seems to be the way with things like this where you pay for someone elses mess-up.

It is bulls**t and you are NOT overreacting! I am so sick of people not doing their jobs. I think we should boycott people not doing their jobs and that way we wouldn't have so much violence in the world today! I'm just saying!

But unfortunately, there's not a single person to blame. Everyone is just doing their jobs. You can only blame the system, but that not half as rewarding.

Yep. I had something similar happen. I renewed my license in Colorado when I turned 21. No problems, no flags, no big deal. 4 months later, some idiot slides through a stop sign, wrecks my car. The officer who shows up informs me that it seems my license has been suspended. I was floored, no clue how that could happen, since I hadn't had so much as a speeding ticket since I was 19. I went to the DMV to discover that speeding ticket was being counted against me twice! But the DMV couldn't do anything about it, I would have had to go to court, and of course they couldn't schedule anything sooner than October, and the suspension would expire in November. Rather than deal with that, I just quit driving since it was February and I mostly rode my bike every place anyway.

Then, by the time November rolled around, I'd moved to Wyoming. When I went in to get my license, they never even mentioned it, issued my license no problems.

When I went to renew my Wyoming license 3 years later (name change due to divorce), seems Colorado suddenly decided it should still be suspended. It took me MONTHS to get it sorted out, all because some idiot didn't pay attention.

I feel for ya, but if you want to make a bad situation worse, try a California DMV. its all the same crap but no one speaks english, the people that work there dont speak english! I'd rather just walk in, someone hand me my license and kick me in the nut, then actually try to talk to someone.

I like to thank you guys for responding so quickly. I just talked to a family member who is down in florida and they took care of it on that end. Now I have to leave work early today and get my license taken care of before 5 so that I don't get that $180 dollar ticket.

I really hate hearing that some of you have had to go through such a BS system. Especially you Maven. It sounds like they got you worse than me. Man that sux. Thanks Again for the moral support.
