After a student complained in 2005 and a lawsuit was threatened, the school stated it was too late to reschedule the '05 ceremony but that they would find other venues in the future and would cover up any religious symbols if need be. Because of this the lawsuit was dropped. When 2006 graduation ceremony was again held in the church and a student complained, ACLU reopened their previous lawsuit.

Does anyone really believe universal, publicly funded preschool will help improve high school test scores? Yet this is what the South Dakota Department of Education seems to be touting. Perhaps it is time to evaluate what is happening in our high schools instead of funding two or more years of public management of preschool-age children with the outside hope that their test scores and social lives at age 16 will be enhanced.

Not too far from the site of the infamous Columbine school shooting, 6 students in a Colorado high school were held hostage at gunpoint. Motive still unclear as gunman committed suicide. As if kids need another reason to skip school.

I wouldn't normally post a news story like this, but I was part of this. We got a letter in the mail Friday saying that our principal was demoted and they said nothing more. So all the students got together and said to wear all black, and to sit in intersection of the math and science hallways in our school before our first hour, and dont move.
I was one of the people there for the sit-in (no I wasnt one of the suspended). Around 200 kids showed up, and for such a small school, it was incredible.
The case is under review, and from what I hear (not a student rumor, this is from a teacher) is that one of the people in another high leadership position is the person that got him in trouble, and they never saw eye to eye.
