Just curious....Is there a difference between graduate school and post-graduate school?Anyways, I did graduate school, finished it, got my degree and I'm back in a lab doing research on cacao aka cocoa. On the fan front, I am deeply into raising awareness and campaigning for a third movie of The Pretender, or a 5th season, or some kind of closure.I can usually be found at Fox Pretender Forum, Pretender Centre or CPF forum. Either there or sometimes on the pretender channel on IRC.I have lost track of the number of websites I have built or am responsible for. I try to keep The Pretender ones up-to-date though! lolI am thinking of doing a PhD. Actually was supposed to start one. But things not "going" or "happening" so ... not sure...If you got this far, thanks for reading! :) Oh btw, the photo is of my niece (and Godchild) Ashlee. She was 1 yr old then, give or take a few months. Of course I took the pic!

I hope you dance Posted: 2 years ago by MissParker
Inspiring advice about realising what is important and living for today. Don't say words like "someday" and don't save all the nicer things you own for later on. Use them for simple moments and ordinary occasions, because those are the moments and occasions that make up your life.

IMSafer - Safer Instant Messaging for your children Posted: 2 years ago by MissParker
IMSaferTM - IMSafer monitors the instant messenger conversations of your children to help you balance protecting your children and respecting their privacy. The IMSafer service will only notify you when your child is engaged in a potentially dangerous conversation on IM.

At IMSafer, we have worked with law enforcement officials to learn how potential predators initiate, develop and maintain inappropriate online relationships with children. We are always working to fine tune and update our analysis engine.

Getting your child protected online is as easy as signing up.

Once you have installed the IMSafer software on any computer you wish to monitor, if your child receives an IM with content that is flagged by IMSafer, you will receive an email notification within 90 seconds that includes the screen name of the person speaking with your child, the community rating of that person, and the category of the flagged content.

You can follow the link in the email or log on to the web site to see more detail about the conversation, the flagged content, and why it was it was considered dangerous. The IMSafer service understands not just English, but common misspellings, slang and even leet speak, where numbers and punctuation are interchanged with letters.

The parent can view the questionable portion of the IM conversation and explanations as to why the conversation was flagged as potentially dangerous. Furthermore, IMSafer will help parents by explaining slang and IM acronyms that may be related to the questionable portion of the conversation.

IMSafer works hard to honor the privacy of the child by not allowing parents to read full chat transcripts. Spying on children is known to drive their activities underground. Working together is the best way to ensure that your child is protected.

IMSafer gives you the ability to leave feedback on any person who is flagged as having a potentially inappropriate conversation with your child. This feedback allows IMSafer to alert you about someone other parents think has inappropriate relationships with their children the second they begin talking to your child online.

The IMSafer Community is large and growing. As more parents get involved, the stronger IMSafer becomes, which results in better protection for all of the children.

MRIs better than mammograms? Posted: 2 years ago by MissParker
This sounds like good news for anyone who has to screen regularly for breast cancer. Early reports indicate MRIs may actually work better than mammograms for early detection. According to the article: "MRIs may be able to do a better job at spotting an early form of the disease." MRIs are a lot less painful than Mammograms, so this is a very good thing. Although there is still the issue of claustrophobia and other safety issues with the use of MRIs....but I believe the effectiveness and painlessness of this vs the mammogram outweigh those negative factors and once the MRIs are done safely, it should not cause harm but instead provide a more useful tool to detect early cancers.

Fun word game Posted: 2 years ago by MissParker
It's like Boggle without having to juggle the actual letters in the noisy container...the only problem is you might get a cramp from typing if you (like me) never learned the proper technique to type! But if you like word games and love a challenge this one is for you. You get 8 letters to make words...the bigger the word, the greater the score etc. There are bonus rounds where you get a bonus score for making just one 8-letter word and then the game continues on even if you don't get the bonus word. However if you don't make the target score in a level, that's the end of the game for you.
It has it's downsides: you don't get to save your score unless it's really high...and the high scorers do make newbies feel out of their depth! Also you can't shuffle the letters the way you can with Text Twist, but that's not stopped me yet! I like it because unlike Text Twist, you don't always have to get the 8-letter word to pass a level so the game can go on much longer for you ... if course the scoring is a bit different here than with Text Twist...but maybe that's because I don't get the 8 letter word most levels! I will probably discover that later. I have been playing it for a while now and I find it very stimulating. Give it a try sometime!

Save The Pretender Posted: 2 years ago by MissParker
"There are Pretenders among us..." What is a Pretender? Pretender fans can tell you. And they will also tell you they want more! More of The Pretender. A brilliant TV series that had an abrupt ending leaving fans wanting more. More of Jarod, Miss Parker, Sydney and the rest. James Denton doesn't only have 'desperate housewives' as fans...he was beloved before that as Mr. Lyle!
Check out the Youtube video - it's a personal contribution to a global fan campaign.
