Last night, the Boot Clan visited the local theater to see Kung Fu Panda. As the movie began to roll, we were instantly sucked into the story and blinded by pure cinematic awesomeness.

Filled with breathtaking animation, talented vocal work, well-written screenplay, non-stop action, lots of laughs, and kick-ass furry kung-fooeyness, Dreamworks' latest film was nothing short of impressive.

Ignore Rotten Tomatoes' measly 85% -- they're hacks. This film will give the upcoming WALL•E serious competition for the title of This Summer's Best Animated Film.

My Rating: (V) (V) (V) (V) (V) -- I give it 5/5 bunny ears. Not only is it a definite must-see for the whole family, it deserves a place on the shelf right next to the likes of Toy Story and Finding Nemo.

Interesting review... based on the previews they're showing on TV, I wasn't planning on seeing it.

I guess you can never underestimate the value of good marketing.

I took my son to see "Speed Racer" I will look at the lengths of movies more closely from now on.

Along with everything you said in your review, at 90 minutes it sounds even better.

I just saw this movie and thought it was fantastic. Even my two year-old got sucked into the action. It was funny, had a heart, and didn't go on too long (usually my #1 complaint).

I cannot imagine why anyone would ever think this was a bad movie. Honestly it was one of the best animated films I have ever seen.

I was thinking the same thing until I saw the tomatometer. 85% is very good for a non-Pixar kid's movie.

I think 8.5 is a fair score for Kung Fu Panda. I'd say it ranks 3rd for Dreamworks Animation, behind the first two Shrek movies. In fact, those three are the only Dreamworks CGI flicks that rank above 'mediocre'.

The story was good, voice work was excellent, the animation was passable, and humor worked. It's nice to see Dreamworks try and succeed for a change. I know the comparison is tired, but it's still worth noting that while their attempt is admirable, they're not at the level of Pixar yet.

i'd still wait for DVD rentals ... all i've seen are commercial promotions on tv, but i still think it's full of generic american-made kung fu movie stereotypes.

though i haven't seen anything of a wise old fart yet.

I wasn't planning to see it, but now, hey I check it out. Whats the worse that can happen? Besides of hating it when seeing it and falling in a blind downvote rage against ReBoot.

I saw KFP today and it was amazing. I loved it. I agree with Reboot... Five Stars.

The film has a great cast, a fantastic feel good story with a great moral.

The jokes had me laughing like crazy. I felt the animation was great, really didnt lack much. I didnt notice anything of substance missing.

This may also be because I love Jack Black.

In my tired kinda sick daze, i sign off, with a simple...

Skidoosh.

I agree with the rest, this was a pretty good animated film. Not quite 'Finding Nemo', but it was certainly worth watching, and it would be a good addition to any family movie collection.

I was surprised to find out Lucy Lui and Jacki Chan were voice casted in the movie, They sounded completely different (or maybe it was just me?)

One of my favorite things about the movie was the Tigress. It is so refreshing to see a female cartoon character who isn't overly feminized.

I saw WALL•E over the weekend, and Kung Fu Panda is definitely the better film (WALL•E decent, but non-verbal main characters make for a slow 90 minutes). Props to Dreamworks for getting their game on.

Full review to come later this week.
