HellBoy II review

Hubbin I decided to attend a viewing of HellBoy II this morning.

The special effects were fabulous. Hands down, brilliant.

A few scenes were great. Humor inline with the characters, I giggled a lot. And there were some great one liners!

But the plot? Ugh! HellBoy is NOT sappy! Liz is NOT girly! It was like Disney's version of HellBoy.

If you just want to see amazing effects and fantastic characters reminiscent of Pan's Labyrinth (duh, same company), then go, go, go! But if you're looking for something worthy of the character...Meh.

Wouldn't Disney's version be "Heck-Boy"??

Seriously... looking forward to seeing this just for the special effects alone. Sounds like it was worth the ticket based on your opinion.

Pan's Labyrinth is so good! Subtitles and all. I also want to see this for the effects.

punthe and I are seeing this on Tuesday and I am sure it will get a very thorough review by one of us shortly there after. Should be worthwhile for the effects alone.

The movie was great.

The effects and characters were amazing.

Seth MacFarlane voice of Peter Griffon amongst others was awesome as Krauss. Amazingly funny scenes.

I think what you have to realize is Maven that unfortunately the general public wants love story, they want sappy bull s**t and it ruins everything.

It happened to amazing films and made them kinda weak in the story line.

Prime examples: Matrix, LOTR, X-Men... I could go on.

All in all I think the film was practically flawless. Save for a strange moment here and there.

Im excited to see what Torro does with the Hobbit.

I loved it in and out. Call me sappy, but I loved

that scene where they both got drunk and started singing 'I can't smile without you'. It was just adorable.

I won't argue that it was entertaining, I was just sad to see the character butchered.

I won't argue that that much of the movie going public wants a sappy love story but that doesn't mean I have to like it or accept it.

Excellent point. I don't ever appreciate the b*****dization of comic book badasses into love struck saps. Makes me crazy, but I will never the less still probably enjoy the flick. (I hope) punthe is a lousy date.

I went with a bunch of friends for the midnight release.

The movie was good.

But we all had the greatest time with the credits. Apparently they made the movie in Eastern Europe, the names were great! We sat there yelling out the crazy names, it was a blast.

Well I have seen the movie now and all I can say is that it was a good movie. As far as sticking to the comics....well they did a decent job. The sappy overtones were a bit over the top but all in all I don't regret dropping my cash at the box office.
