two old pairs of running shoes which hurt my feet and I never wear
two pairs of sexy high heels which hurt my feet and I never wear
one pair of newer running shoes that don't hurt my feet and I usually wear
one pair of old Converse that I use to always wear but now hurt my feet and I never wear
one pair of ballet slippers that I'm starting to wear more often since there hasn't been any snow in about a week
and one pair of cute hippie medium-length heels that kinda hurt my feet, but they're just so damn cute and I got them at Goodwill for like $4 so I'm starting to walk around in them sometimes (not out of the house yet)

I wish I could go barefoot. Work tends to frown on that. Back in college, I had three pairs of shoes--tennies, thigh high boots, sandals. I went barefoot most of the time--I'd carry my sandals with me and put them on when I went into a building. Part of the reason I like crocs so much is that they're the closest to barefoot you can get.
I see that every other girl here has at least 2-3 pairs of the same kind of shoes. I am the anti-shoe so here goes:
1 pair black flip-flops 1 pair sneakers - for sneaking (I do a lot of this) 1 pair knee-high high heel black leather boots 1 pair medium heel brown mules 1 pair steel-toe black boots 1 pair cycling shoes 1 pair water shoes 1 pair high-heel black strap sandals 1 pair black high-heel pumps 1 pair teva hiking sandals
2 pairs of black heels. 1 pair of tan/black Playboy wedges. 1 pair of tan/brown Charlotte Russe[?] wedges. 1 pair of Rocket Dog slip ons. 3 pairs of ballet flats. 1 pair of Reebok running shoes. 1 pair of hiking boots. 1 pair of Adio skate shoes. 1 pair of DC skate shoes. [That are currently lost.] 8 pairs of American Eagle flip flops. [I don't wear them anymore.] 1 pair of platform boots. [Goth style, gave that up about a year ago, I don't know why I still have them.] 1 pair of Vans slip ons. 1 pair of worn Converse high tops. [Great for mosh pits.] 1 pair of steel toe boots. [Old work shoes.]
I basically only wear the Adio shoes and hiking boots. Though lately I've been wearing the Adios for hiking and rock climbing. [I always choose to go last minute, when I'm already out of the house.]
I have 2 pairs. I've gotten rid of all the ones I don't wear, so I'm down to 2. These are, one pair of sneaker-type things that look vaguely like this:
And one pair of what I like to call "s**t kickers". Which are an old pair of Eastland boots that I wear riding, hiking, working outside, etc.
You have to remember, when looking at my unladylike choices, that I grew up in rural Maine... moved to Wyoming... and now once again live in rural Maine. These aren't really places that cultivate femininity. I mean, I'm not a mountainwoman or anything... I shave my legs and wear makeup if I'm going out but heels weren't even an option where I lived and if I tried to walk in them now I'd break my ankle.
If I grew up someplace else, though, I'd be a shoe fiend.
Mr. Monkey makes fun of me because I have a 'shoe rainbow' in my closet - I have most of them lined up in order of colour. I spend over half the year in the wilderness, so I find I get ultra-feminine when I'm in the city.
My favourite pair right now are a 4" heel and they're red satin with little white polka-dots. They're lovely!
I also have a pair of ninja-turtle velcro shoes I bought from the boys section at Wal-Mart. I have little feet, so I can buy my camp shoes for super cheap!
In addition to those, I have three pairs of hiking boots, all of which get used quite often. I only use my nice zamberlans for hiking trips, and the others go to work with me.
Could all of the women please post pics of their feet with the various shoes on? Two poses per shoe please. One from the side and one from your point of view looking down. Right foot only please.

I love shoes. Surprisingly I don't have very many.
1 pair white tennis shoes 1 pair black tennis shoes 1 pair low heel white sandals 1 pair high heel white sandals* 1 pair brown medium heel sling backs 1 pair low heel black pump and of course my slippers.
7 pairs. I need shoes!
* high heels, because I like to play like I am a giant! ;)
3 pairs skate shoes 1 pair running shoes 1 pair birk sandals 3 pairs insulated water proof winter work boots 1 pair waterproof slip ons
And not a single dress shoe! Unless you count my 1 pair of Ariat tall field boots, 1 pair Petrie tall dress boots, and 2 pairs of Ariat paddock boots. Yeah, I don't get out much...
