This is how to express the ideas of respect, honor, reverence, esteem, nobility, and sometimes the state of being noble, all in one word in Japanese. Most of the time this is used in the form of "giving respect", but depending on context, it can suggest that you should try to be "worthy of respect".
Maybe the two combined in some way (your tattoo artist should be able to do it better than I could) would maybe fit in with what you want.
I've got a half sleeve of traditional Japanese Cherry blossom and waves so if ya wanted a pic of cherry blossom I could send you a pic of mine.
