The Nearly Never Ending Story Posted: 1 year ago by
Since the last never ending story ended, Suebe suggested that we start another - so here comes the "Nearly Never Ending Story" And so it began, a day not unlike any other day until I steppe dthrough the gates of the "Flying Cow-patty" ranch. Suddenly my nose hairs began to curl. I couldn't believe my eyes. There stood......

Haggling with cell phone companies -- need your advice Posted: 1 year ago by
After many long years, my family's cell phone contract with Cingular is up. I decide to do the brave thing and haggle. I really hate haggling. I look at all of the phones/deals on the internet. I make a list of acceptable phones and plans for the big three that have coverage in my area -- Verizon, Cingular, and Sprint. First, I call Verizon and ask for a "retention specialist". I get connected to one department, and they assure me they will do everything short of murdering one of my many ex...

Ethics Question Posted: 1 year ago by
If you purchased something in a store or restaurant and the cashier gave you too much change (say $10.00 extra), how many of you would keep it? Has something like this happened to you before? It has for me (and yes, I did give it back). I'm just curious where people draw the line on something like this. What amount is insignificant and what kind of people don't warrant a return? I've heard some people reply that it depends on the business and the level of service... I've heard others say that it depends...

DVD review- The Last King of Scotland Posted: 1 year ago by
Since Suebe beat me to the Hot Seat post, I'm quickly revising this thread. Got The Last King of Scotland in through Netflix this weekend. Probably rented it because it had been up for an Oscar for Best Picture (The Departed won), but Forest Whitaker did win Best Actor. It's based on the true story of General Idi Amin, who ruled Uganda during the 70's. The movie follows the story of a rich, recently graduated doctor, who decides with a spin of a globe, to help people in Uganda. On a chance encounter, ...

Dumpster Diving Posted: 1 year ago by
Ok I will admit it, I'm a dumpster diver (not for food though). I have multiple item that I use regularly that I picked up at the curb. My vcr came from my sisters neighbors curb. Works fine and I've been using it for years. I have a nice Honda generator (a big one that even has 220 outputs on it) that I picked up curb side. All it needed was a new recoil rope and a spark plug, works fine now. About $10.00 and 2 hours of tinkering. So what did I nab today you ask? How about a 47 inch Samsung 1080i H...

Currently it shows you haven't been on in 3 days. Where's the love? Are you seeing another website??? Were you just avoiding Friday Avatars because it was the "real you"? In honor of the topic "The Real You" I thought I would ask. I don't upvote my own comments (though the system seems to automatically give my articles a thumbs up from me). Mostly just because I don't want to inflate my stats. I haven't made a moral or ethical judgement, but I was wondering how the rest of you handle the issue....

Hyena vs. Shark Posted: 1 year ago by
I have been having a debate with my flatmate for a long time now. Basically we are arguing about the strongest jaws in the animal kingdom. The kind of strength we are talking about is crushing strength, so how hard something can bite (not relative to size). Crocodiles for example can keep their mouth closed, but the actual biting power is not that much. I was hoping you guys could find some links that will settle this debate once and for all. I have googled and googled, and not found enough evidence that ...

Stupid Work Posted: 1 year ago by
They completely blocked me from Plime with that damn "websense" software. COMPLETELY. I couldn't access it all day, and from home (dial-up) I cannot change my avatar. It is all very sad for me. Hopefully they will lighten the blocking, they've done so in the past. If not, many of your dreams will come true, and I will become a very infrequent plimate....
