But don't misinterpret what a downvote means. A downvote does not mean "don't participate", it means that whatever was posted was not well received by the community. Most people would see that as a pretty clear sign that they should discontinue talking about that particular subject.

DC, I can only speak for myself, but here goes. I have downvoted a great majority of your posts in this thread today. I have downvoted Chels' posts also. I have downvoted your (both of you) posts for one reason and one reason alone... you were both asked, multiple times, to keep this out of the forum. It doesn't belong here, it doesn't belong in public. Two adults should be able to handle their interpersonal relations with more maturity than was displayed here today. It's that simple. Post a picture in the picture thread, I will upvote it. Start a thread denouncing the existentialism of modern society, and I will upvote it or leave it alone depending on whether I agree or not. Deliberately hijack a thread for the sole purpose of starting (or continuing) drama, thus ruining the thread for everyone and I will downvote it. It really IS that simple. These are the rules I use, not just for Deepchill, but for everyone. For the record, I DIDN'T downvote post #15 on this page, because it is an attempt to end the drama (I think/hope)

No upvotes and 2 downvotes is like, nobody cares in the community, 2 people decided to click.

I have been watching all of this and not upvoting or downvoting. I would like to give my 2 cents worth.

To downvote DC in this thread, in my opinion, is fine, frankly he has been an ass.
He is hurt and mad and it is understandable, but an ass none the less.

BUT, to go to the news and downvote all of his articles and such is way out of line. Those have nothing to do with this. If we are going to punish him for his attitude, at least keep it in the thread and with the posts that deserve it.

Agreed. While he HAS been an ass, and deserves the downvotes he has gotten, I don't believe he derserves to lose 4 levels over this. I have gone back over his links and upvoted ones that I liked, but missed the first time around, just to mitigate the downvoting

I'm not sure I understand. Plimates are corrupted by power? I don't know that that's true in this case. There were numerous posts asking for this to stop, and both parties were downvoted. One chose to continue posting, and thus was downvoted more.

I stand corrected. I was thinking in terms of this thread, but if someone had gone to your "News" page and sniped ALL of your posts, then yeah, I guess one user could make an impact, but I still don't know that they could hit you for 4 levels by themselves.

You're correct. It wouldn't drop him 4 levels with just one user. It takes a lot of karma, even for the heavy hitters.
