Hurrah for beer floats!

Actually, ew.

Glad you're doing better, IP.

And you're a heck of gentleman for having experienced this "episode", then first going home to shower-off the marathon 'residue' so you wouldn't be all wet, salty, and sticky for the hospital staff.

Sending you all the best wishes from over the pond here in Dublin. You'll know when I'm back when I start sending you all those vibes that are guaranteed to not shock your heart, but to heal.

Feel better, my friend.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I just got back from the Cardiologist and here's what I've got: MVD.

I need to lose weight, lower my blood pressure and increase my HDL levels.

I'm cleared to start running again, but the Doc doesn't want me to exceed a heart rate of 110 bpm. This will be very difficult as I usually get to 150 bpm when I run. If I stop every time I get to 110, then I'll slow jog for about 100 yards then have to stop.

this sucks.

Well clearly it's not as good as not sucking at all, but at least you know what the situation is.

Did the doc say you could work back up to a higher heart rate over time or is 110 your tops for good now?

He says we can re-evaluate it as my weight drops. But I'm not scheduled to see him again until 2 weeks AFTER the Marathon I want to run.

Holy s**t dude! I just learned this from Chinook's helicopter crash thread! I know you can't run for 14 days, but are you just going to get back to training hard, or are you gonna take it easy?

I guess what I'm getting at is, are you going through with the marathon?

Baby steps, sweetie. You just gotta do one day at a time. Nothing for it.

Glad it's nothing worse and you can at least jog.
You'll be marathoning again.

Didn't the first marathon runner die? Like, the messenger guy from The Battle of Marathon. The battle that gave the race its name?

I could look it up, but I'm laaaaazyyyy.

Btw, don't run it if you'd die. That wasn't what I was trying to say.

*Edit*
I looked it up
