Reaching 20 Karma AND your turn on the hot seat!!!

Marli

If you could hang out with any 3 people, living or dead, real or fictional, who would they be and why?

Where would you hang out?

You are standing on a box. In the woods. No one can see you. No one.
Would you
a) Take off your clothes? Then what?
b) Sing and if so, what song?
c) Play air guitar?
d) What else would you want to do?
e) All of the above?

What is your absolute favorite thing to do in the whole world?

What is your favorite body part - of yours, that is?

If you could travel anywhere on the world either alone or with your significant other, where would it be and why?

Would the artist of said artwork be your favorite? If not, who would be?

If you could hang out with any 3 people, living or dead, real or fictional, who would they be and why?

Where would you hang out?
Either one of the Roosevelt presidents... they're both equally interesting, so I'll take either one. My Aunt Laurette (she passed away in 2001), and my daughter, at age 18 (she's currently 2). The Roosevelts because I'm pretty fascinated by history... FDR because I would just love to listen to his account of that time period while he was president. Teddy because he was amazingly smart, well read, and adventurous. I expect he could tell some kick ass stories. My aunt simply because I miss her, and she was one bad ass old French-Canadian lady. And my daughter at age 18 for two reasons: I'd like a sneak peek at what kind of job I've done raising her, and because I really wish she could have met my aunt.
I don't think it would matter where we hung out...

You are standing on a box. In the woods. No one can see you. No one.

c) Play air guitar?
d) What else would you want to do?
e) All of the above?
I think I'd sing. Right now I'm feeling the song "You really got a hold on me", so I'll go with that.

What is your absolute favorite thing to do in the whole world?
I think I'm happiest and most content when I'm walking up in our fields with my family- my husband, daughter, and our dog. It's pretty much perfect to watch your kid discover things like grasshoppers or a bird's nest for the first time.

What is your favorite body part - of yours, that is?
Today I'll go with my feet, because they're strong and sure, and since I've been packing and moving to a new place, they've been serving me well.

Favorite literary character?
Yikes, good question! I am (and have been forever, even before having a kid) pretty fond of the Velveteen Rabbit. I like the unconditional love, and the fact that even thought he couldn't stay with his boy, he was justly rewarded in the end by becoming real...

Favorite book?
Watership Down. Sheesh... there seems to be a rabbit theme here. Creepy.

Favorite Color?
A deep red, I think.

Have you seen The Dark Knight yet? (WHY NOT?/What did you think?)
I haven't! I've made plans to go see it with my brother, and my mom, but not until next week. I have high hopes for it!

If you could travel anywhere on the world either alone or with your significant other, where would it be and why?
This also could change on a day to day basis. Lately I would love to hit Alaska for 6 months to a year. The photography, and the chance to be a little bit isolated are the two biggest pulls. I have to fight the urge to get up and go, a lot. I absolutely love my family (I'm talking parents, siblings, grandparents, etc.... I don't really need breathing room from my husband and daughter), and I'm very devoted to them, but some isolation every once in awhile from them, and the need to take care of them, is good for me.

Is there a piece of artwork that has caught your eye more than any other? if so which one?
A Van Gogh painting- I think it's called The Harvesters? Not sure, though.

When I was really little, I thought this painting was of my parents, so it kind of stuck with me. I have a copy of it hanging in my living room (well, usually... right now it's packed away and sitting in our new place).

Would the artist of said artwork be your favorite? If not, who would be?
He's up there, but I don't think I can pick a favorite. There are too many types of art, and too many masters of each type, you know?

I've tried tons of them, but never stuck with anything long enough to learn much. I learned how to play one Beatles song on the guitar, and I learned how to play a few really simple tunes on the piano, but I gave up on them because they really weren't my medium. I tried them originally because I have a lot of very musically gifted family members, but eventually I learned that was their thing, not mine. They were all encouraging and everything, but I didn't enjoy it the way they did.

What Kind of music are you into these days?
These days, I'm still basking in the glow of the Dropkick Murphys show I went to a couple weeks ago, so I've been listening to them a lot.

Do you have a favorite cookie?
Good old fashioned chocolate chip.
Do you come from a big family?
Yes and no. I only have two siblings (and one half sibling who I never really knew), but I have a lot of cousins who I'm really close with. Their kids call me their aunt, and I think of them as my nieces and nephews, not second cousins.
All told, our average family gathering is 20-25 people.
What would you say is your worse bad habit?
*sigh* My sugar addiction.
Do you have any tattoos? If so where and what do they mean?
I have one tattoo on my right shoulder blade. It's a Chinese character... supposedly it means "thunder", but since I was 18 and on my senior class trip and did it impulsively, it could very well mean "dumb ass white kid who got a tattoo without putting any thought into it". My goal is to eventually cover it with something more meaningful. I would definitely have more tattoos if I had more "disposable" income.
What would you do if money wasn't an issue?
Buy a lot of land. Just to know there would never be a subdivision out my kitchen window, and to be able to grow/raise my own food.

Best advice you ever got?
I guess it would be that when you mess up, the best course of action is to just fess up and do what you can to make it right, rather than cover it up or something. I think the prettier way of saying that is "It's not the mistakes we make that define us, but what we do to repair them"... something like that.
Worst advice?
From the time I was in 1st grade, up until about 5th or 6th grade, I LOVED writing, and I wanted to be a writer when I grew up. Someone told me to forget about it because "you'll never make money at it". That may be true, but it was still the s**ttiest advice I've ever gotten. You don't tell a kid to abandon their dream because it's not going to make them rich.
How many licks DOES it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?
Someone in my school actually did a science project about that, and I can't remember! I think it was up in the 300s, but I certainly never found out. I bite into them.
Roller coasters or Merry-go-rounds?
Roller coasters. Even though every single time I get on one I say over and over "I hate this, I hate this, I haaaaaaaate thiiiiiiiiiiiis!"

Always smell chocolate. If everything I ate tasted like chocolate, I'd weigh 700 pounds. The smell thing would also come in handy since I have a kid who is still in diapers.

What is your favorite character ever?
Favorite character ever? Books, movies, cartoons, everything? I have absolutely no idea...
What is the first musical artist that you listened to, of whom you still enjoy their music today?
Simon & Garfunkle. My mom played a ton of Simon & Garfunkle when I was little. I probably heard them in the womb, and I still really like them.
Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?
Probably filing a lawsuit against Matt Lauer for stealing her idea.
Are you on the bus or off the bus?
I think "off". No real reason... I just don't feel like I'm on it.

what are the things in life that make you happiest?
Laughing uncontrollably... and I mean tears coming down your face, can't catch a breath, "I'm making a stupid squeaking sound because I'm suffocating" kind of laughing, is one of the funnest things ever. My husband literally made me laugh so hard once that I got a bloody nose! I've had a total of 3 bloody noses in my entire life, and I'm proud to say that one of them came from laughter.

Marvel or DC?
Marvel.

Favorite Comic Book Super Hero?
Wolverine. Long before the movies, he was my favorite. I used to think Gambit was pretty cool too.

Is there something that you need in order to fall asleep at night?
I'm not good at sleeping alone, anymore. If my husband is away, then the usual setup is that my daughter crawls into bed with me, we watch a cartoon, and the dog sleeps down by my feet. Even when Mr. Marli leaves for work early in the morning, the dog jumps up on the bed after he leaves and sleeps down by my feet.

What is your favorite food to cook?
I really like making apple pies. They come out awesome, but unfortunately I don't really like apple pie that much, so my husband usually gets to eat the whole pie himself over the course of a few days.

Yesterday is gone, tomorrow may never come. Live for today: True or False
False. You have to learn from yesterday. And while you don't have to plan for tomorrow, it tends to make tomorrow a whole lot more enjoyable if you do.

Are you gonna eat that?
Ugh, no. After supper tonight I had a piece of ridiculously rich chocolate cake that my cousin made from his own recipe. It's sort of sitting in the pit of my stomach, as if to say "the only way I'm leaving your stomach is if I make a beeline for your thighs."

1) What is your favourite thing aboot Plime?
The absolutely stellar senses of humor that abound here.

2) What are you top 5 films of all time?
I guarantee this list is not accurate. For one, I'm wicked tired and surely not at 100% mental capacity tonight. And two, I suck at favorite lists. But here goes:
#5. In Bruges- Okay, admittedly I just watched this, so it may not stand the test of time. But I loved it. Laughs, gun fights, tears, what more could a girl ask for?
#4. Under The Tuscan Sun- I am pretty much totally ashamed that this is on the list, but here it is, anyways. I watch it almost every time I see it played on tv... I'd be lying to Plime and to myself if I didn't put it on the list.
#3. Denis Leary: No Cure For Cancer- Does that count? It's not a movie, really, but it really does deserve a spot.
#2. Cool Hand Luke. Really, is there any explanation needed?
#1. Dances With Wolves (This actually might be my accurate favorite movie of all time... )

3) Bob or Ziggy?
Bob! I will admit, though, that I haven't heard a whole lot of Ziggy. I'm just going with the original, here.
