Disabled? No Catholic Wedding For You!
Disabled? No Catholic Wedding For You!
Some of the rules that will prevent you from marrying in a Catholic church are logical - can't murder your current spouse so you can marry your girlfriend, can't have previous marriage. Others are less so, for example if you are impotent for any reason such as paralysis you are not allowed to be married in the church. Also if you state you don't want kids, you can't be married in the church. picked by 2manyusernames 8 months ago

With their stand on birth control, this is hardly surprising.

And it's really discriminating. How could they possibly prevent 2 people from marrying in the church because of a disability or no desire to have children?

Because they can.
They can't prevent them from getting married. But they decide whether it is in the church or not.

if the author is so concerned about this issue, even though it does not affect her, why still support the church? seems slightly hypocritical to me.

I know a lady who had had a hysterectomy as she didn't want kids, and when she was planning finally on marrying someone, the church said if she had a hormone test that proved she was post-menopausal, she could have a church wedding!

The guy turned out to be a jerk, so she didn't... What a rigamarole to just have a companion.

Imagine if the Catholic Church was also an HOA? Yikes!
