I really have to ask... "what's the point?"

Look at the handouts the government doled out for the 9/11 attacks and the Katrina disaster. There was no insurance involved in either of those cases.

Like it or not, in times of natural and man made disaster, the Government always rushes in with fists full of cash and asks questions later.

This insurance is more for the benefit of the government than the policy holders.
