"also parents are being blamed"

Uh... unless these kids have jobs and transportation the parents are 100% to blame. It is easier to let the kid eat all the Hot Pockets, cake, and french fries they want instead of listening to them whine.

I agree. The next article I want to see from that person is "How to use proper punctuation and sentence structure when writing professional articles".

Oh, and what they eat isn't as important as what they do. Tell them to get off their fat buttocks, off the X-Box or Playstation, go outside and get some exercise.

When I was below the age of 18, I was rarely indoors (all these doo-dads hadn't been invented yet) except to watch a little TV, eat, sleep, or you know. I was also thin as a rail, couldn't keep fat on me.

I agree, kids should move more.

That being said, a kids meal (just burger, fries, drink) at mcdonalds can have 850 Calories. Your average 10 year old has to go for a 6 hour walk to burn that off.

A single dessert at the same place can exceed the 10 year olds Base Metabolic Rate (how much calories you burn in a day before excercise is counted in). Being just one McFlurry over your daily Calorie consumption equals 65 pounds gained per year.

Digg has one comment on the article:
That has got to be one of the shortest, lamest articles ever. If you are going to have an arguement as a title, maybe you should right more than a paragraph that has zero research and no real arguement either way in it.
Which pretty much sums it up.
