Last night, I watched a Rick Steve travel show on Madrid. At one of the many bull bars there, after having consumed many and diverse pig parts at other eateries, I found it ironic when he asked his companion how Spaniards justified bullfighting (oh the cruelty). The fellow said it's an art, pure and simple, and pointed out pictures making this very point: matodors get gored, and some die.

'The crowd looked on in horror as it charged the 32-year-old bullfighter and tossed him in the air.'

Why don't they look on with same horrified expressions when the bull gets killed (after suffering numerous wounds first!).

Too bad the bull can never win.

I have no sympathy at all for the matadors.

Look at those bulls, full of spears in their backs, how would you act?

It is a disgusting sport, tradition or not.

A guy on holiday in Spain, feels somewhat hungry, so goes into the village restaurant. Gets the menu and after some careful study, orders the paella. Quite tasty it was too, but there was an absolutely delicious smell coming from the next table, where one of the locals, Carlos, was eating.

He calls over the waiter, and in his best holiday Spanish asks: "Tell me, what is that dish there, the one that smells so fantastic."

The Waiter replies: Ah yes, that is made from certain rather delicate areas of prime freshly killed bull. It is then marinated in our secret sauce mix, and garnished with fresh herbs, and just a touch of garlic, with our special red wine dribbling.

"Sounds superb, may I have some please.?"

"For you sir, as a special favour. But we have none left today. Come back tomorrow, an hour or so after the bullfight finishes"

The guy arrives on cue, his meal is ready, piping hot and tastes out of this world.

He calls the waiter over again, tips him hugely, sends his compliments to the chef, but asks. "But tell me, why was my portion so much smaller than the one Carlos had yesterday?"

"Ah well sir, sometimes the bull wins."

No, but he can f**king well take the guy in the silly pants down with him.

(The best part of that is Matadors normally get the women like no other - tradition be damned, they're putting on the silly pants just so they can get into yours... Say goodbye to your little friend.)!

Funny thing, last week I somehow ended up on a PETA page, "The running of the nudes". A site and event that protests bullfighting.

Although I feel Peta could do alot better with their PR, love 'em or hate them, they do get lots of undercover video to share with the world and raise awareness.

The videos are sickening. It is nothing but pure torture of an animal.
