Man alive. That brings back memories. I never got past the Missisippi. Kind of reminds me of this Achewood storyline:

Lucky for me half my ancestors were amerind and the other half were exiled French religious zealots. Apparently I don't have the correct pioneer genes to cope with figuring out how many oxen I need.

I don't think I've played this since the third grade!

I remember playing the original Oregon Trail on the ol' green-and-black screens. Man, computers have evolved since then!

I used to play this every day during lunch in 5th grade. I'm not sure how many times my family died of dysentery.

As you might notice by my avatar, I fondly remember the fun, and now I can share it with my kids! I bet they'll think it's stupid.

For those who don't like downloading, play online here.

I loved this game. The one I remember playing was the deluxe version, but this is awesome.

Ha, those computers. How silly :P

We didn't even have mouses (mice?). Just pressed buttons all day . . .

ETA: I started playing the online version and I had to stop. It was weird. I live in Kansas, about 30 miles away from Missouri, so I think I might have had an added advantage in the game since I know how crazy our weather is (we had it sunny, rainy, large hail, 3 tornados and a flash flood all within 24 hours last month).

Oh great. Thanks alot, Matoogs! Do you know how much this just ruined my day? Here I am supposed to be getting ready for St. Paddy's day, and I'm playing oregon trail online!

Seriously, though, thanks for posting it. I'm now an addict to it again.
