Unbelievable. Children NEED fat in their diet to help their brains grow. Most pre-pubescent children appear flabby or chubby, but they are not. Add to that a tall or active child with a large frame, and you can seriously harm the psyches of these children! Almost as bad as calling them 'Meat Loaf' and beating them senseless.

We had the opposite problem growing up. Poor and hungry, stealing food or money to get food. Sigh.

Friend's kid was accused of being 'unfit' at school. Kid is very active, in school and out, eats well, in fact PREFERS fruits and veg as snax, but had pubescent chubbiness. Thank goodness her mom let it go, knowing her kid is healthy. Now her chubbiness is gangliness, but we know she is built right and is healthy!

Just what the school system needs, another flawed test to make children feel inferior.

This is just ridiculous. As if there are not enough girls with eating disorders - let's make them all take a BMI test so they can compare scores and make each other feel bad.

And do they honestly thing a test and a health report card are going to make a difference in the actions a parent will take to get and keep their kids healthy? Parents who care already know if their child is overweight or just working toward a growth spurt. Parents who don't care are not going to stop shoveling crap at their own kids just because of a piece of paper from the school.

Another stupid idea from the pinheads who run our education system.

wouldn't it be easier to get rid of the soda machines and fast food? or even make PE mandatory?... oh wait... then they would lose money
