When mass was changed to allow the use of "venacular", or the local language, they gained the ability to explain what (the church believed that) God expected. A switch back to Latin loses this.
Yes, many become drones or dissallusioned, even in their local language. This is because of what is taught, now how. Folks at least have the opportunity to make their own decision.
Unfortunately, IMHO, drones are exactly what the church wants.
