The headline took the statement out of context, the next line by the lawyer was:

'It is all too unrealistic that sexual encounters between boys and girls who have never met before must be against the girls' will.

It is the standard "It was consensual" line. Still wrong, but pretty standard stuff.

Murder definitely leaves a lasting effect on those who knew the victim, but at least the one killed (as far as we know) doesn't suffer after the fact.
