“to see that number as a gift… because, as he says, “the number 143 means ‘I love you.’ It takes one letter to say ‘I’ and four letters to say ‘love’ and three letters to say ‘you.’ One hundred and forty-three.”

Mr. Rogers rules. He is on my list of top five people I wish I had been able to meet before they died. I watched his show religiously and probably longer than I should have (according to psychologists at least).

15. The sweaters. Every one of the cardigans he wore on the show had been hand-knit by his mother.

At the risk of losing several machismo points, I think this is probably the coolest thing on the list.

i remember when he died, i was in highschool. it seriously was like my grandpa died. i went to his memorial service here in pittsburgh. there was not one dry eye there. i still miss him.

I miss him as well. I was teh youngest, and my older brothers would mercilessly tease me over watching the show, but I really liked it! It was a comfort to me, a daily ritual that reminded me of being a young child, being noticed and appreciated. The episodes hold up well. I've recently caught a rerun or two and found them to be endearing and still cozy after 38 years of watching.... I am still learning from the shows even now, about emotions and simple social graces I never learned before.

I would love to say that my tolerance was learned from him. He had a simple and innocent style that is attractive to small children. A truly great American.

I didn't grow up with watching him, but I have a brand new respect for the man.

I really liked the Koko story. That is so amazing!
not only did she immediately wrap her arms around him and embrace him, she did what she’d always seen him do onscreen: she proceeded to take his shoes off!

I loved Mister Rogers growing up. I am thankful that they have kept his show running(per his request) for generations to come.
