Many horses are killed every DAY for consumption overseas, so selling it raw wouldn't be anything new on the menu...horse is eaten over there already. I had horses and mine were humanely euthanized when the decision had to be made. I felt I *OWED* them that.
Our local news did a story on horse slaughter. Video is on the left.
Thing is, horses from USA get shipped to mexico, too.
I ain't gonna put that link up, but if you wanna youtube horse slaughter in Mexico, its horrendous. They stab them behind the ears and paralyze them and they are aware and conscious for the rest of the trip down the line.
Ferdinand the great racehorse ended up on someones plate after he proved a dud at stud. The whole thing stinks, IMHO.
It needs to be banned here in the USA for many reasons.
We dont eat it. If you cannot afford the burial or vet bills to put it to sleep dont get a horse. And it doesnt cost much more to put a horse down than my dogs have cost me over the yrs in vet bills. 200.00 bucks and you can have it hauled away to a rendering plant if you cant bury it.
