Retards, there is a clear difference between going into shock and being drunk. :/

I am a diabetic, never gone into shock, but when my blood sugar gets too low I get the shakes, sweaty, and I start seeing spots. It lasts about 15 minutes if I catch it quick enough and take steps to counteract it. Someone in a diabetic shock wouldn't be able to tell you what is going on.

read the entire story, including the follow-up

Amtrak did nothing wrong whatsoever. I sincerely hope the man and his family doesn't turn his actions into a lottery win.

A. There was no way for them to know the difference. Contrary to what Dr. Pjanaway says, most people wouldn't know the difference between being disorderly because of a diabetic shock and being disorderly because of too much alcohol.

B. They followed procedures including common sense. Read the follow up. They did not just throw him off the train despite the misleading original headline. They stayed at the station waiting for authorities. The man ran off leaving his bags and medication.

So, they did nothing wrong. The man is 100% at fault. If he hadn't run away from the police, than all would be fine.

So... I'm the only one who hoped the Sims saved their game before they boarded the train?

Ok then...

Agree with you completely on this one, 2man.

Okay so they followed procedure, but if they thought he was "drunk and unruly" shouldn't they have detained him better? I have never seen a person in diabetic shock, but I have seen a drunk and unruly person and you can't reason with them. So maybe you can't reason with a person in diabetic shock either.

Again, he ran off. If they had put him in restraints to prevent him from running off people would really be yelling.

The first story and the headline makes it sound like they opened the train and kicked him out in the middle of nowhere. That isn't the case. They removed him from the train. They waited with him until the authorites showed up. Only when the cops showed did he run.

Small correction to the above. The police arrived to see him gone. He ran from "the authorities" before the cops got there. My guess is that refers to the Amtrak security people.

As for him being 100% at fault, I disagree. Someone in diabetic shock is not in control of their actions. I wouldn't lay any blame at his feet. I wouldn't reprimand Amtrak, either, though I hope this results in a reexamination of their procedures.
