what point would that be? every argument i've heard from the people against universal health care seems to reinforce what mike is saying.
"Huckabee also singled out Moore for flying to Cuba in March for the documentary to obtain health care for a group of ailing Sept. 11 rescue workers.
"Let me ask you, have you ever met anybody when they were really sick say, 'Oh my gosh, I have a desperate disease. Get me to Havana, I've got to have the best health care in the world,'" Huckabee said." - the whole point of the trip to cuba was that in cuba these people who were being denied service by the insurance companies in the u.s. received better help from cuba, no questions asked.
"Huckabee earlier told reporters that there should be a greater push toward insurance companies paying for preventive measures such as nutrition counseling and cancer screenings that would cut down on higher health costs in the future.
"Anything we could do to help steer people to healthier habits comes back to us many times over and that's a real focus that needs to happen," Huckabee said." - tell that to the guy in the beginning of the movie who had to choose which finger he wanted to reattach because he couldn't afford both. maybe if he'd been eating more fruits and veggies he wouldn't have accidently cut his fingers off in the first place. ditto for those 9-11 rescue workers, i guess a more healthy lifestyle would have protected them from the lung problems they got treatment for in cuba.
sicko really upset me overall. mostly because i'm all too aware that mike wasn't making it up or even exagerating. he didn't have to and that's the saddest part of all.
the point was that the man is large, and that maybe he should take it upon himself to correct a problem about his health that only he can solve before complaining about health care in general. fatness is unhealthy. this is like a socialite wearing the most expensive trendy clothes and complaining about what she has to do to maintain her fashion. keep yourself it top shape and you wont need to rely on the medical system. personally i wont go to a doctor unless its about something i absolutely cannot take care of myself. i dont believe the lies about self-medicating; i won't take pharmed chemicals just because the doctor says it's best. you can get perscriptions nowadays for common colds. ever heard of echinacia? scientifically proven, plus herbal!
