So who do I believe...a bunch of adults who took the time (and wasted their time) to be responsible and take the kids to the police?...or a bunch of un-supervised teenagers "hundreds of miles from home"

I agree. I really like how the parent's are saying that their kids couldn't have done anything wrong. They are perfect little angels. Like the rep from Amtrak said, it takes a bit to get thrown off a train. I really don't think that these four should have been on a train without an adult.

How surprising that the rotten kids have parents that immediately defend them... without exception.

The moral of the story? Don't steal Ipods on trains when you're six hundred miles from home at two in the morning.

But each of them had their own iPod anyway!
