If that is desecration, what does it mean to drop a duece on it?

I'm enraged.

I could rattle on for ten minutes about the ridiculousness of having laws against screwing with a piece of material THAT YOU OWN just because of what graphic is on it.

The flag is probably made in China for christ sake.

“At my gut level, it does upset me, and I want to be very careful not to violate anyone’s constitutional rights,” Rep. Ray Rapp, D-Mars Hill, said of flag desecration as a form of expression. “But I’m also sensitive to the importance of these symbols to our nation, and I have something of a visceral reaction against that.”
I seriously cannot believe that politicians in this country are so fragile, that they get their feelings hurt at the drop of a hat.

“I think the flag is a symbol of this country that should be cherished and honored, and I think the authorities did the absolute right thing,” said Sen. Tom Apodaca, R-Hendersonville. “You can express your opinions under the First Amendment without desecrating the flag. That’s the symbol of this country. It’s what it stands for. If they don’t like it, they can leave.”
You ignorant f**k.This country and it's government is supposed to serve and protect it's citizens. If you seriously are running your campaigns on the, "If you dont like it, then you can leave!" platform... I think you should leave, since you have no idea what means to be an American. You should do fine in South Africa.

Don't understand why they were arrested, or rather why the charges haven't already been dropped with major appologies hoping that the family doesn't sue.

Laws against "desecrating" the U.S. flag have been ruled unconstitutional I believe. I know they were struck down at least on a federal level.

It is logical that such actions would be legal. If the flag stands for freedom, banning or censoring certain actions upon it are wrong.

Heck some hick towns used to arrest people for wearing clothes with the flag image on them.
