I know a few obese cats. Their owners try and tell me that they "exercise a lot. it's just genetic."

Suuuuuure.

3. I love them all. And their infinite piles of poop right next to the flippin' litter box. '*'

My one cat doesn't poop inside the house. She would meow to go out and do her business. I've seen her squat on top of the drain hole and piss, though. Good aim too....no mess and straight down the drain. I thought someone left the tap running when I heard water running down the drain.

Is this something trained, or learned from another cat? If not, that's quite intriguing that the cat has extended it's repertoire of waste management to more than kicking a bit of gravel over it, and possibly understands what the drain does at some level.

I think the researchers need to extend their test group beyond just cats.

My hypothesis is this:

Overweight mammals face a risk of developing diabetes.

Nope. I've never trained my cat to do anything. I just one day saw her do that. I've also seen her in the sink, squatting to piss into the sink hole.

A brief scan of Google suggests that there has been very little research into cats using tools, but a brief search of YouTube shows that it is going on a lot.

With toilets mostly, but if you scroll down you'll see other stuff too.

Awww...cats are so adorable. I've yet to see mine use the toilet. I think she drinks from the toilet because I once saw footprints inside the toilet bowl.

my cat will poop in the litter box no matter what. even if i forget to clean it and she has to bury her crap with her own crap. she doesn't pee in drains, though. but she does drink out of the toilet. i think she thinks it is her personal drinking fountain that is flushed 10 times a day just for her.

i have a friend who had a cat pee down the drain in his shower. turns out he had some sort of a bladder infection? though i am unclear if the action was tied to it. he also has a cat that fetches.

cats can be incredibly entertaining in their absolute bizarreness. i guess that is why we love them so.

^_^
