I wonder if this is in answer to multi gigahertz processors...?

How many of you play or used to play pencil & paper rpgs? Back in the late 70's I played tons of different games of all sorts of genres.

Haven't played in many many many years though. :-(

Here are a few random links:

Yes... There's as much to say about playing these on paper vs. on a computer as there is for reading books vs. watching TV/movies. Imagination is THE BEST 'TOY' in our collective arsenal!

WOOT to Gary Gygax et. al.!!

It's aboot time they found a way to speed up the process. Don't get me wrong. I really enjoy most of the campaigns, but I think a couple of hours of prep time and another 4-8 hours of gametime is a bit too much... Then again... Maybe we shouldn't drink so much when we play. lol

i have friends who've been gettting together every saturday night for the past 25 years or so. they play old school: dice, paper, mechanical pencils and player handbooks. lol, oh and LOTS of caffeine and sugar..... i think they'll be jazzed by this news. XD

I haven't played in about three years. The people I played with smoked too much pot during the game and were unable to think straight. It was really frustrating. I mean, the game takes long enough as it is...

I may have to pick it back up minus to two culprits. (I'm usually DM)

I haven't played in close to 20 years. I don't really miss it much, but then again my group was exceedingly small so it probably wasn't half as fun as the campaigns you all remember.

When my son first got into it, I dug out my old briefcase full of books, magazines, screens, and dice and gave it to him. His jaw almost hit the floor. What a proud nerd moment that was. Almost as good as when I dug out my crate of lead minis, paints, inks, and brushes and handed it over to his sister.

/didn't use minis, just painted 'em
