"Stupid comments made by clerk enrage 88-year-old. You go, Grandma." ???!!!

Stupid comment? It was a joke. Not only was it a joke, but it is such a common joke that it is a cliche.

What does the old biddy do? Does she laugh it off. Does she enjoy his attempt at friendly banter instead of just enjoying his attempt to brighten her day by acting as a person, as a friend instead of an automation she takes offense and then tries to extort the company by some total bs about "emotional distress" what a joke.

Now she has made it a huge news story giving her even more "emotional distress"

$250,000 for a stupid comment? I hope she doesen't get a penny. Personally if anyone jokingly accused me of being a terrorist I would laugh my head off. And believe me, fruitcake should be considered a weapon of mass destruction.

the article states she lost the lawsuit. She has eye trouble so couldn't prove that she fell because of the joke. Plus her lies... rather testimony wasn't consistent.

She got nothing, but she cost the usps a bunch of money which she should have to pay for.

Not that I'm about to cut her any slack, but if any U.S. federal employee even hinted that I was a terrorist, I'd be distressed. It's not like they look for proof these days.

there was no hint of her being a terrorist. Simply a joke asking her what kind of explosives is she mailing as the clerk shook the package.

That is it. The same joke that has been made hundreds of thousands of times.

Even if it wasn't a joke, it would be no different than the standard airport questions about your luggage "did you pack your own luggage" "was your luggage out of your control at any time" etc etc.

My comment was aimed more at the "call 'em terrists and throw 'em in jail without counsel" mentality that would make me nervous if even the animal control officer made a joke like that. In other words, my comment had less to do with the story than the erosion of Americans' rights.

Me, I would have dropped to the ground, just in case he wasn't joking and he had a gun. I have dark skin for a white boy.
