Um, this isn't Reno 911? Who keeps a video camera going in their car? The whole thing seems suspect to me...sounds real, but doesn't seem real.

Ok, the more I listen to this, the freakier it is. That cop sounds intoxicated.

On the other hand, the suspect/victim hasn't learned the words so crucial to any similar situation. "I want to speak to my attorney" (have one and keep the phone number on you). Just keep repeating "I want to speak to my attorney" say nothing else.

And that clicking is really annoying!

People who are out to find d**ks like this. There have been video of similar actions by cops. There are some people who seek out these situations just for the infamy, notoriety, possible civil case, etc

Granted, there are people out to find d**ks like this. But you should find them in bars, not patrol cars.

This would never happen if people would just do whatever cops, or anyone else for that matter, demand, up to and including dropping trou' and squealing like a pig. Constitution be damned. This guy didn't, though. He must be one of those liberal a*****es.

Brett was in the wrong for not fully co-operating and for his confrontational attitude. Cops have the right to stop anybody at any time. It's up to you whether the stop is over quickly without incident, or whether it escalates like this one did.

Not cooperating? He didn't care to tell the cop why he chose that place to stop. He wasn't required to, and he calmly said as much. Confrontational attitude? Who confronted who?

I'd love to see the law that says cops can abuse, threaten and harass you for asking clarifying questions in a reasonable voice or showing that you understand your constitutional rights.

Agreed but after 20 yrs experience you think the copper might have a bit more patience with dealing with that kind of attitude.

I fully agree. I usually post comments in support of a cop's actions. I usually say we should give a cop some leeway, but this case has no justification for the cop's actions. He was dead wrong and made threats which are or should be illegal or at least firing offenses over.

20 years or 2 days, a cop should have the training or training and experience on how to deal with people who don't worship at their feet.
