I've been in one of those scanner tube things, and I can imagine that was pretty traumatic.

Maybe the technicians need to draw up some sort of tick chart - make sure the last thing on it is "look in the big tubey thing and make sure it is empty".

I'm assuming that as common sense procedures such as "count them in, then count them out again" don't work out too well, that we need to use simpler language with them.

On a related, and hugely annoying note, my husband and I were forgotten THREE times during a stay in the ER last December. I had to go find a nurse each time and remind them that we were still there. What should have been a quick trip ended up lasting 9 hours.
