Wash Your Hands, and Don't Shave Your Legs
Wash Your Hands, and Don't Shave Your Legs
As a virulent strain of antibiotic-resistant bacteria spreads beyond hospital walls, some communities are taking extreme measures such as closing schools for disinfection. But getting adults and children to pay better attention to a few simple personal-hygiene rules, and taking precautionary measures such as getting a flu shot, may be a far more effective weapon against the bugs. picked by DrNothing 11 months ago

I'm confused--what would shaving legs do that shaving other bits would not? Sharing razors seems a more concerning habit than simply shaving.

Oh, and proverb? Wax!

Staph is nasty stuff! I got a staph infection on my ankle once due to mosquitoes and no-see-ums using me as their personal buffet. It was painful! I was sick for a while. That is nasty stuff.

I can always change, if it's really so very distracting.

Wouldn't want to lead you astray!

MRSA is not influenza, LMAO!

There's no such epidemic here, but if we did we would be doomed. Just a few of many concerning facts:

Antibiotic-resistant hospital infections kill 8,000 patients each year, according to a study conducted by Dr. Zoutman at Kingston General Hospital.
That works out to 250,000 Canadians becoming sick from preventable infections every year.

Another study estimated the cost of MRSA alone to the healthcare system [to be] at $100 million annually.

Although it's difficult to pinpoint the exact cost of all hospital-acquired infections, some Canadian infection control experts have estimated it's as high as $1 billion annually. With better infection spread control, for example, better handwashing, an estimated 30 to 50 per cent of infections would be preventable in Canadian hospitals. Healthcare workers usually only wash their hands between five to 30 per cent of the time.

...

About as many Canadians die from antibiotic-resistant hospital infections than car accidents, AIDS and breast cancer put together.
