Wow. That is pretty cool. I am certain it could never compare to the real thing. I will never know. I am glad this was found.

I remember when I went up there. I was bummed because I wanted to drop a penny off and see what happened. Had no idea that the observation area was no where near the edge.

I used to work in the North Tower, back in the 80s. That's where the Federal Home Loan Bank Board used to be, on the 103d floor. Amazing, the building would sway with the wind, it had to. You'd look outside to blue sky and look down into clouds. They designed the windows so they were less than shoulder width but higher than 8 feet so you never felt insecure looking out the window. They had special trolley things for the window washers so a cart could be lowered from the top on tracks that were attached to the side of the building.

Did you know that the Restaurant "Windows on the World" had a special section called "Cellar in the Sky" dedicated to serving exquisite and rare wines?

I hated these buildings when they were being erected. I resented that they would be taller than the Empire State Building. I thought they were boring monoliths, with no character. Then, I worked there. To stand in the marble lobby, massive and full of people but never crowded, never. To marvel at the speed of the elevators and to have to change cars in the middle (because they couldn't have 1 shaft go all the way to the top). It was odd too, because you got to know people, the elevator guy, the newspaper guy, the coffee guy (names left out, because). It was a city within a city.

The last time I was there was Sept 17, 2000. I still have the ticket stubs from the observation deck.

There have only been 2 things that have devastated me beyond comprehension.

The death of my sister and the destruction of those towers.
